In Australia, you need to complete the Certificate IV in Drilling Oil & Gas (Onshore) RII41120 to work as a driller or assistant driller on an active oil and gas rig.

This RPL course is ideal if you currently work, or have previously worked, on an Australian onshore oil and gas rig or project, and want to formalise your skills and experience to become a:

  • assistant driller
  • driller
  • operational manager
  • site supervisor.

In these roles, you complete many complex and non-routine activities. You are responsible for the output of others and help develop technical solutions to non-routine problems. You also work autonomously where required.

This qualification meets all current industry standards, and reflects the skills and competencies you need for a successful career in the oil and gas industry.

Course Breakdown

The RII41120 Certificate IV in Drilling Oil & Gas (Onshore) requires the validation of 12 units comprising of 7 core units and 5 electives.

Students will have up to 3 months to complete this RPL only program. If the learner requires more time please see extension options in our student handbook or contact our office.

Delivery Options

This course is only available via RPL, recognition of prior learning. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) can be conducted for one or all units. Speak to our team about applying for RPL. (Note: participants applying for RPL will be required to provide 2 industry referees who can validate previous roles and experience)
